The Last Coal Powered Steamship

We ride the SS Badger from Ludington, Michigan to Manitowoc, Wisconsin 60 miles across Lake Michigan. Join us as we ride the last coal fired steamship in the United States. We tour the ship, watch the loading and unloading, tour our stateroom, play games and more.

The SS Badger is a rail car ferry built in 1952 and is a National Historic Landmark. She was converted to a automobile ferry in 1992. The ship which still has most of its historic equipment and fixtures. The safety and navigation equipment has been updated, but much of it is as it was back in the day.
